The power-model constants (Kc1.1, mc, unit power) are class-typical values for the ISO material group, used only for a rough spindle-power estimate. Only their relative ordering and internal consistency are verified, never tuned to match any vendor.
Notes
4140 chromoly in the annealed condition (around 197-217 HB), the softest and most machinable state. Note 4140 is also widely sold pre-hard (4140 HT / PH), supplied quenched and tempered at 28-32 HRc (about 275-320 HB); pre-hard is not annealed-soft, so drop the surface speed and use coated carbide for it. Power-model constants: Kc1.1 and mc are class-typical values; unit HP is derived from Kc, not independently published.
