Notes

C45W (1.1730) is the tool / mould-plate quality of C45 - an unalloyed medium-carbon steel, the same composition as AISI 1045 (the general-engineering quality carries the number 1.0503). It machines like a plain carbon steel, faster and easier than the alloy tool steels. Surface speed is from Machining Doctor's 1045 data sheet (indexable milling 490-670 SFM); the shipped 330 SFM is a conservative solid-tool starting point, and cutting parameters are flagged estimated pending a solid-end-mill cross-check. The power-model constants are ISO P carbon-steel class-typical values.
